Aliens are coming to WA!

Aliens are coming to WA! These cane toads soon will be invading WA and destroying our wildlife! They were introduced to stop a bug eating the crops but they didn't and instead they ate other natural food. There are now millions of them in Queensland and now are heading for WA. CALM has been building cane toad traps to go up north with the mount Lawley bush cadets and other small groups. How to spot a cane toad. There are native frogs that are important to Australia so it is important that you don’t mistake a native frog for a cane toad. 1. Cane toads lay 1mm eggs held together by strands of jelly. 2. Cane toad tadpoles are small and black in colour but can easily be mistaken for native tadpoles. 3. Adult cane toads are heavy built and average from 100mm to 150mm in length. 4. Cane toad skin is dry and leathery. 5. Cane toads have distinctive boney ridges over their eyes. 6. Cane toad feet don’t have suckers on the end. 7. The big glands behind a cane toad's eyes release a poisonous milky liquid when it is disturbed. 8. The call of a cane toad is like a high pitch purr- a bit like a phone dial tone.
